Noted
An updated look at the new mural outside the Second Avenue F stop... someone has covered the ICE on the uniforms and added a misspelled "Comunist Democrats" message... (H/T to the commenter for pointing this out...)

ReplyDeletePeople who disagree with you politically aren’t automatically fascist
Delete"People who disagree with you politically aren’t automatically fascist" no, but these people are
DeleteSomeone didn't get the memo that they were supposed to FLEE NYC because a "democratic socialist" (q.v.) was elected.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you on about? It's the commies with trustfunds that are going to price the rest of us out.
DeleteAnother argument in favor of congestion pricing.
ReplyDeleteCongestion pricing? Yeah right. Renegade spray. painters driving around in cars.
DeleteGood grief
ReplyDeleteA fine example of how 35 years of conservatives defunding education has created another fine crop of mindless voters totally suitable for advancing their billionaire agendas. Ever notice how the only art they like is that which came out of Germany during Third Reich days? Most definitely a requirement in order to enter the cult of Drumpf.
ReplyDeleteWe spend more per head than almost any other country, it’s how that money is allocated. You can thank teachers unions for stifling progress, at least now ‘whole language’ is being rolled back in favor of phonics. You want kids to learn? Support charter schools and school choice, let parents vote with their tax dollars and allow them to send their kids where they feel best.
Delete@GK Here are some actual facts proven by data, not ideology. The problem isn’t teachers’ unions, it’s policy and funding: decades of data show that countries with strong public investment and collaborative teacher involvement outperform those that scapegoat educators, while voucher programs overwhelmingly fund for profit private and religious schools for middle- and upper-class families, with over 90% of voucher dollars going to families whose kids were already in private schools, not to new students from public schools. These programs do little to improve outcomes for most kids, divert taxpayer money away from classrooms, and fail to deliver on their promises, while sustained increases in public school funding, directed to teachers, smaller classes, and student support, consistently boost achievement and graduation rates. Countries that spend far less on education, like Singapore, Poland, and Vietnam, consistently outperform the U.S. in student outcomes, while Massachusetts, with one of the strongest teachers’ unions in the country, also has the highest-rated public school system. All proof that strong unions, smart funding and policy, not oligarch's driven by profits and control pushing vouchers and blaming educators, are what drives real success.
DeleteThis is just silly. We spend as much as anyone, almost more than any other country per head and the results are abysmal. Teachers unions make it impossible Ke to fire bad teachers, or implemented much needed layoffs or an absurdly large amount of administrators who are useless. Charter schools beat public schools performance by any metric, because they run as schools should. Firing bad teachers, expelling bad students, and not being beholden to public sector unions. Comparing the US to Singapore or Poland is nonsensical.
DeleteIn communist countries they have secret police to snatch people off the streets. It's un-American.
ReplyDeleteEnforcing immigration policy against illegal immigrants isn’t the gestapo and it completely cheapens the horrors of what actual secret police like the Stasi, KGB, etc. did.
DeleteExcept, GK, snatching people off the street based on their skin color and rushing people out of the country without due process isn't enforcing any constitutional, or indeed human, form of immigration policy. We literally sent people off to torture prisons in authoritarian countries this year, or have you already forgotten?
