Tacos Domingo bringing its first U.S. outpost to 1st Avenue and St. Mark’s Place

A Mexico City taquería is heading to the East Village.

Tacos Domingo is taking the SW corner of First Avenue and St. Mark’s Place — the former Brooklyn Dumpling Shop space — for its first U.S. outpost.

The concept, which has multiple locations in Mexico City (including Reforma and Pacheco), focuses on charcoal-grilled tacos, with an emphasis on carne asada and house-made salsas.

Per its Google description, Tacos Domingo aims to blend traditional technique with a more contemporary presentation — "a celebration of Mexican culture, hospitality and the ritual of gathering around exceptional tacos."

The brand is currently partnering with Esse Taco in Williamsburg for a pop-up through Sunday.

No word yet on an opening date.

  1. If you haven't checked out the
quesadillas at 1986 in the West Village, you're missing something great!

  2. So this corner now has 4 Mexican Joints: The fast-serve taco joint (Domingo), The fast-serve burrito joint ( Electric), Sit-down taco joint (Taqueria St. Marks), and Sit-down upper scale Mexican (La Palapa). As someone that live around the corner that loves Mexican food I'm all for it!

  4. La Palapa is more Mexico City style. Electric and Taqueria St. Marks are more Cal-Mex. The burrito with french fries originated in San Diego.

  5. Taqueria St.Mark's is pretty solid for a spot I thought was just a sports bar.

    1. Try living across the street from this joint. It’s really noisy and the owner doesn’t care. AND, they are a Dodgers & Lakers bar. This place sucks.

  6. Don't forget Paquitos a little further north. Great burrito, fresh chips and wonderful people. Family owned and operated. They also use their own delivery staff if you call in your order.
