The 'Silent" treatment

The debut EP from Mouth Ulcers, a London-based four-piece, delivers a strong set of dark, gothic-tinged tracks.

The video here is for "Silent Pictures."

Listening to it, it's easy to imagine Dave Kendall introducing the band on "120 Minutes" back in the day before sending viewers down another post-punk rabbit hole. RIP Dave.

  1. A perfect audio simulacrum of 1984, and I do mean that in a good way.

It definitely could have played on 120 Minutes if it didn't show up on MTV London Calling, hosted by Steve Blacknell. Then I'd be checking all the British music papers at The Kiosk on Broadway at Astor Place to see if I could find any articles about them, and keeping an eye on the Village Voice to see if they were playing the Ritz.

(Was that sufficiently East Village and era-specific or do I need to get King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in there too?)
