The festival, titled "Spyborg," takes place Thursday at La Plaza Cultural on the southwest corner of Ninth Street and Avenue C, and Friday at the 6th Street and Avenue B Community Garden. Doors open at 7 both nights.
Thursday's program will focus on the growth of surveillance and its impact on communities in New York and elsewhere, while Friday's films will look at activist resistance to surveillance.
The festival will also debut "Last Seen," a short film by Diego Samudio about an everyday New Yorker navigating the city under constant observation.
On Thursday, MoRUS Director Bill Di Paola will discuss surveillance faced by the environmental activist group Time's Up! and show clips from its cycling campaigns. On Friday, artist Seth Tobocman will present work examining the Patriot Act and civil liberties, including his work with World War 3 Illustrated.

The weekend continues Saturday night at 8 when the Emma Goldman Film Festival presents a program in Tompkins Square Park honoring longtime Lower East Side activist Ben Morea.
