Signage alert: Masala East Village on 1st Avenue

Coming-soon signage is up for Masala East Village at 85 First Ave. between Fifth Street and Sixth Street. (H/T Steven!)

The restaurant's website offers this description: "Bombay soul. New York spirit." And: "Big spices, warm hospitality, and the comfort food of India — served right here on First Avenue." 

No word yet on an opening date. 

Masala takes over the space from Fomo Momo, the Indian street-food spot specializing in momos that opened here in late 2024.

    Cool cannot wait. Btw does anyone know when Kotobuki is opening? Been walking by and they look almost done with construction.

    Was wondering about Fomo as I walked by the other day. The one meal I grabbed there was nice, hope the new spot does well.
