I have a fresh stack of men's XL flannels —— really nice ones —— washed and ready to be donated, plus jeans and socks and our excess gloves and blankets. Thanks for posting the area outlets for donation. That info should be more readily available in the hood! Plus it feels great to donate good stuff that would have ended up in a landfill. People, we can all help our neighbors, no need to be rich to do so.

However, you rich peeps who now call the hood home should step it up. But, by all means, keep throwing that stuff away with tags yet! Rich people waste a lot. Also want to mention that people tend to donate and volunteer around the holidays. Please donate these items now if you can. Also please consider donating and volunteering AFTER the holidays are over. Every year they are inundated with volunteers around the holidays and then in Jan/Feb when the temps are life threatening and they need donations and volunteers there are none around. The same applies for the summer as well. They can always use volunteers and help during the summer. The post doesn't mention one of the biggest needs- new underwear and socks. These can be bought cheaply and in bulk online. Please check if your company has any kind of matching program for donations or a program where employees volunteer in the city. Finally, all donations are tax deductible. There is a standard deduction for clothing donations as long as you donate by Dec 31.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-79552405593665275522016-10-19T13:58:59.408-04:002016-10-19T13:58:59.408-04:00If only, JQ, if only. However, the sheer indifference that the vast majority of developers, politicians, and the other 1%-ers you mentioned feel towards the less fortunate is on daily display here; I doubt it would cross their minds to do anything even remotely as charitable and kind as Goggla and other caring individuals will. And yes, this is a great opportunity to clean out my closet.
