In every major city, there are Baczynsky types of butcher shop serving the Ukrainian community.
In some cases, there are even distinct opinions on which make the better sausage, as i am sure was the case when Kurowycky's was still around. I believe Mr. Kurowycky actually started out working with Mr Baczynsky before he opened his own shop on 1st ave.
In Detroit, it's an east side vs. west side sausage rivalry. With Markowycz's (west) vs. Kopytko's (east). As my family is a lifelong customer of Markowycz's, you can imagine where my allegiances lie.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-75094515270808108472009-03-13T15:22:00.000-04:002009-03-13T15:22:00.000-04:00I live down the street and sadly don't go to the m...I live down the street and sadly don't go to the meat market as often as I'd like (mainly because I don't have much time to cook). Those bags are awesome though, if they made a shirt I'd buy one in a second.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-63456909933848843472009-03-13T10:55:00.000-04:002009-03-13T10:55:00.000-04:00man those bags are spectacular, I'm going to start...man those bags are spectacular, I'm going to start hoarding a few myself.

Thanks for using my shot above btw.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-67444072223760015362009-03-13T07:32:00.000-04:002009-03-13T07:32:00.000-04:00When my mother lived in NYC she always shopped at ...When my mother lived in NYC she always shopped at Kurowucky's Meat Market on 1st Avenue near 7th Street.
