It was a good addition to the neighborhood - affordable margherita pizza (the continuous special of $5 for a pizza!) that I found quite tasty.

At any rate, I hope there will be a trend to more affordable brick-oven pizza spots.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-19228956893335416282010-12-29T21:13:37.051-05:002010-12-29T21:13:37.051-05:00I'm surprised at the Totale-bashing. The pizza could be a little more consistent (and if they were charging $10 or $12 for a margherita pie, I'd be more demanding too), but in my experience it's usually been fantastic and a great value. I hope the place is still open!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-85941527561141974452010-12-29T15:53:56.561-05:002010-12-29T15:53:56.561-05:00Don't bash 2 Brothers on Saint Marks--firstly ...Don't bash 2 Brothers on Saint Marks--firstly the pizza is good for the price and the people who go there are diverse--from models-actors-musicians-street artists, students, etc. Sounds like a nice mix to me.Melaniehttp://melaniemusings2.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-65615747429562380192010-12-29T12:11:54.176-05:002010-12-29T12:11:54.176-05:00I was so excited for this place to open, thinking ...I was so excited for this place to open, thinking I'd have an alternative to Luzzo's, but the pizza was too oily and the sauce was too bland. So sad. Also, not a very good idea to open a Neapolitan pizza place on St. Marks...or a pizza place in general in this area (looking at you Plum Pizza or whatever you're called!).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-80272966784813690082010-12-29T11:39:24.116-05:002010-12-29T11:39:24.116-05:00last night i dreamt that totale had reopened and s...last night i dreamt that totale had reopened and somehow extended all the way to the corner of 2nd ave. collective unconscious and all thatAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-21814526265858818842010-12-29T11:16:48.774-05:002010-12-29T11:16:48.774-05:00When Totale first opened, it was awesome. When the pizzaiolo isn't there, 2 Bros people make the food and it's borderline gross.

Never went back a few months after going regularly. I live around the corner and that 2 Bros pizza is a scourge. I feel really bad for its neighbors. Say you wanted to attract the worst scum and losers in the whole area to one place -- well its super easy, just sell pizza for a dollar a slice.

Anyways, totale pizza. It sucked. It was a limp, insipid, uninspired pie. A simulacrum of a hand-crafted artisanal pizza you might find at a place like Lil Frankies. SOggy in the middle, overcooked around the edges and bland through and through.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-70469599245039809922010-12-29T09:47:14.890-05:002010-12-29T09:47:14.890-05:00Oh nooooooooooo.where will I get my $5 pie?Oh nooooooooooo.where will I get my $5 pie?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
