The Spooky Time is Upon Us

The Hounds from Hell are returning,

To haunt the park again,

Scaring all the squirrels,

Holding back the rain.

Bedecked in all their finery,

Emerging from the dark,

Their heads held high and haughty,

Thinking they might bark.

They promenade, first left, then right,

Cameras snapping at every turn,

Competition is quietly present,

But it is fun that they will earn.

I can’t help but wonder,

If they talk among themselves,

“Did you see what that ones wearing?

Should have left it on the shelves."

Smiles on every face,

Spreading from ear to ear,

I can’t wait to see,

What they will be wearing next year.

In case you didn't see the banners that went up in Tompkins Square Park on Friday... the 27th annual Halloween Dog Parade is Oct. 21 from noon to 3 p.m. rain or shine in case you want to attend or, perhaps, avoid.

Given today's rain and forecast for more rain, several people have asked me if the Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade is still a go... Yes, according to the official site — rain or shine... (might need to switch to that aquatic costume theme)

The posters are up in Tompkins Square Park... the Dog Parade is Oct. 22 from noon to 3 p.m.

Giuliana Rancic, host of E!'s Live from the Red Carpet and co-host of Fashion Police, is the emcee.

At the 25th annual Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade

Nearly 300 canines and maybe 1 rooster took part in the 25th annual Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade yesterday … there were at least two pizza rat costumes … as well as costumes based on Donald Trump, "House of Cards," "Back to the Future" and Joe Namath… Here's a sampling of the costumes via EVG contributor Stacie Joy…

… and Best in Show… this Day of the Dead-themed ensemble featuring two Chihuahuas and a Yorkshire terrier. The owners are apparently from Dallas.
