An apparent argument on an uptown 4 train early this morning sparked a slash attack that left 3 people in the hospital, police said.

The Daily News reported that the spree started when the attacker cut a man during an argument around 1:30 a.m. on the 4 train. The man left the train at Union Square, where he preceded to slash two other men as well as slap a woman in the face.

DNAinfo noted that the attacks happened after the victims refused the suspect's request for money.

Per DNA:

As the suspect left the station, climbing the stairs near the Food Emporium at 10 Union Square East, he asked a 46-year-old man for $2, police said. When the man refused, the suspect slashed him on the right side of his face.

The suspect then crossed 14th Street near Fourth Avenue, demanded a dollar from a 59-year-old man who was waiting for the M14 bus and then cut the man's face, police said.

EMTs took the three victims to Bellevue, where they are reportedly listed in stable condition.

According to an NYPD report cited by the Daily News, the suspect is "a heavy-built and clean shaven black man with a missing tooth, 5-foot-9, 180-pounds, age 20-25."

He was last seen wearing red and white sneakers, a black knit hat and a grey hoodie.

Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). You may also submit tips online.

[Updated] At the LES Unity Rally

Tonight at 5:30, Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer and other community leaders convened on Avenue D and East Sixth Street in a solidarity march against gun violence. Joining the group was Arlene Delgado, the mother of 16-year-old Raphael Ward, who was gunned down in a dispute over his jacket on Jan. 4. There have been a handful of other shootings since last July in the area.

Said Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer. "We are marching today to keep our children safe, to prevent the next senseless death — and to stop another tragic shooting from scarring our streets."

"This has to end — how many more mothers have to go through this?” said Arlene Delgado. "I’m speaking out because I would love to save so many other children. I still have a six-year-old to look after, and we have to be more pro-active in our children’s lives. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and our village has to pull together."

Report: Former Internet millionaire part of 9th Precinct gun heist story

The story of the officer who allegedly stole guns from a locker room at the 9th Precinct on East Fifth Street is getting really, well, fucked up, for lack of a better description on a Saturday morning.

According to published reports, the officer, Nicholas Mina, is addicted to prescription painkillers. He reportedly stole the weapons to pay a drug debt to a Queens drug and gun dealer, prosecutors said yesterday.

Police also arrested Ivan Chavez, described by Assistant District Attorney Chris Prevost as "a prolific and daily drug dealer" of heroin, oxycodone and other prescription drugs, as the Post reported.

That's one part of the story. Also involved in all this is Jennifer Sultan, who along with her boyfriend Adam Cohen, sold their Web streaming-media company Live On Line for a reported $70 million in 2000.

The couple is now penniless, living in a 10-room penthouse with a private elevator on East 17th Street. They have filed for Chapter 11, per the Post.

However, the NYPD also arrested Sultan for, as prosecutors said, pulling "large-scale drug deals" with Chavez in Queens. From the Post: "Prosecutors said cops found at least 60,000 pain pills that Sultan had sold in Chavez's Woodhaven apartment when they raided it on Thursday."

You can read the rest of the Post article here ... and the piece from the Times is here.

Meanwhile, I'll await the piece in Vanity Fair this fall about how this $70 million Internet couple lost it all.

An article on the upcoming summer in the Hamptons from May 2000 in the Observer noted that Cohen and Sultan rented a $400,000 house in Quogue with 11 bedrooms. They also had a pool installed for $35,000. Said the broker about the couple: "There are people who just don't know what to do with [their money]."

Report: Misdemeanor assault charge in East 14th Street parking-space punch case‎

A Manhattan jury this morning convicted Oscar Fuller of misdemeanor assault for punching a woman in an argument over an East Village parking space in February 2011, the Post reported.

The jury acquitted Fuller, an electrician in Queens, of felony assault for punching Bronx resident Lana Rosas in the ensuing argument. He could serve up to one year in jail. The judge will sentence Fuller on June 13, the Post noted.

Rosas was reportedly in a coma for nine days. According to her mother, "Rosas is still struggling with brain injuries, unable to work or drive, and her life revolves around her therapy sessions."

Fuller's first trial ended in a mistrial last November. He has said that he was defending himself. Rosas was standing in the space on East 14th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B to save the spot for her boyfriend.

Cops looking for fake cops who tried to rob the Waterfront Spa, which actually isn't on a waterfront

This story is making the rounds today. We spotted it first earlier over at Runnin' Scared. The NYPD are looking for two men they say posed as cops at two spa kinda places, including at the oddly named Waterfront Spa on First Avenue at Second Street. (I mean, the Waterfront Spa technically isn't on any waterfront. No?)

Here's the scheme: On Dec. 1, the men entered the business and allegedly flashed badges while asking to review the spa's license. They also asked to see the spa's money.

The spa worker refused. The two reportedly grabbed her arm and fled. (It wasn't clear from the NYPD if the men kept her arm.) They tried this stunt again on Dec. 12 at a spa on St. Nicholas Avenue.

Police say the suspects are 6-foot black males in their 30s. One of the suspects was caught on video wearing a Yankees baseball cap with a light blue jacket and blue jeans. The other had on a light blue hat with a dark jacket and dark pants.

If you have any information about this, then please Tweet about it. Or write a jokey blog post about it. Then call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

East Village resident recalls attempted rape in First Avenue apartment building

The Post interviews the victim of the attempted rape that took place early Sunday morning inside the victim's First Avenue building. As reported, the 27-year-old woman had fought off the man.

“F--k you! Get the f--k out of here! I know what the f--k you look like!” screamed the feisty fashion-firm employee during the frightening attack that she repelled early Sunday, she recalled.

She told the Post that she unlocked the front door of her building, walked in through the vestibule, unlocked a second door and made her way up the stairs.

And here's what happened next, per the Post:

“It must not have slammed behind me,” she said of the doors.

“I didn’t notice him until I walked into my building and I was in the hallway and I started walking faster,” up to the first landing on the staircase, she said.

“Then I felt his hands on me, and I started screaming.”

“He lifted my skirt,” she said. “As soon as I felt that, I spun around kicking and screaming.

“I had lots of adrenaline, so I was pretty aggressive.”

The fiend immediately backed off in the face of her expletive-filled fury.

“He just started getting out of there. He did try to shush me,” the woman said.

Police describe the suspect as being between 25 and 30 years old, about 5-9 and 170 pounds.

Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS, by texting TIP577 to CRIMES, or by going to NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
