Updated: Last day for you pervs to ogle XOXO models on Fifth Avenue

As you may have already read ... some XOXO models have been camping out the last few weeks in an empty storefront on Fifth Avenue at 38th Street... and the models seem to be causing a sensation....

I came across the scene earlier in the week...a scene that was both hilarious and horrorfying...First, you put two models in a window who prance about in bra and panties and seductively brush each other's hair...then you hire a security guard to yell "keep moving -- you can't stand here on the sidewalk" over and over. Like we're really going to move.

And all this is on the other side of the street from the decking-the-halls holiday windows at Lord & Taylor. So there are a lot of tourists who are shocked -- shocked! -- at all this. One mom said to her twentysomething daughter, "You'd never see this back in [Elk Snout, Pigsknuckle -- didn't catch the name of the town]. And then you have a bunch of horndogs with cameras. (Uh, yeah, well, I was technically working...)

The show ends Sunday...the model hours are 12:30-2:30 p.m. and 4:30-8:30 p.m.

Anyway, it all seems pretty tame after the shows at The Standard.

And in response to the comments, YES, there is video...via the XOXO site...

Cafe de Nova space for rent; Avenue B back up to 22 vacant storefronts

Last Thursday I mentioned that La Bonne Bouffe was the third new cafe-bakery-small-plates-type place to open on the south end of Avenue B since January... I failed to mention in that discussion that Cafe de Nova on Avenue B near 11th Street closed up earlier this month... This cafe-bakery-small-plates-type place opened late last spring...

How long will the bagels remain in the window?

So, with this, we're back up to 22 empty storefronts on Avenue B.

Third cafe-bakery-small-plates-type place opens on Avenue B between Second Street and Seventh Street

La Bonne Bouffe, a new cafe-bakery-small-plates-type place, is now open on the corner of Avenue B and Second Street.

This is the third cafe-bakery-small-plates place to open since January on Avenue B between Second Street and Seventh Street... LBB joins Coyi Cafe and Paradiso.

Oh, and with this opening...we are down to 21 empty storefronts on Avenue B.

What do we want for Avenue B? Yogurt? Ice cream? Yoga? Pilates?

The space at 41 Avenue B has been vacant for some time...

There's now a new ad in the window giving a better description of the property, which can be split into two storefronts.

And what are some of the suggested uses? (No bars, thank you!)

Hmm...Yoga center...Pilates...Yogurt...Ice Cream...Zzzzzzzzzz...Pastry and Desserts....Spa...ZZzzzzzzz....

Dead end on Avenue B?

We've chronicled the empty storefronts that line Avenue B — 22 vacant spaces still by my last count. Sure, there are signs of life in a few of the empty storefronts, but... Meanwhile, this gave us pause last night: Someone inexplicably (ominously?) placed a "dead end" sign for those driving south down Avenue B to see...

The sign is supposed to be facing east on 13th Street.

Meanwhile, the Tibetan specialty shop Lhasa Boutique near Fourth Street has offically closed.

By the way, I don't want to give the impression that tumbleweeds are blowing down the Avenue... Hardly. There are still the unnamed ones that attract the weekend jackasses..... And there are plenty of highlights... a few neighborhood colorful mom-and-pop shops remain (Metropolitan TV, Raul's Candy)...and fine places such as Mona's, Bee Liquors, Lakeside Lounge, B-Side, Life Cafe, 7B, Manitoba's, Mama's Bar (and Mama's on Third Street), Zaitzeff....

Make that 22 empty storefronts along Avenue B?

Oh, a few weeks ago, I did a post about all the empty storefronts along Avenue B -- 21 by my count.

Well, let's go ahead and make that 22. Panificio, that cute Italian eatery that I never went to at the corner of Avenue B and 11th Street, appears to be shuttered.

Sure, it's possible that they just decided to not open on a Thursday night. And, yes, it's plausible that no one would answer the phone the numerous times I tried to call them. And, it's probable that the one small view from 11th Street that shows the empty interior simply means that ownership removed all the tables and chairs and put a display case in the middle of the dining area while cleaning. Or something. And if you were going to be closed for a few days to clean or renovate, there's no reason to put a sign up for potential diners. Anyway! The place never seemed all that crowded to me since it opened last April. For good reasons, perhaps?

Meanwhile on the Bowery....

Just a few doors south of the Downtown Music Gallery...another nice Bowery storefront for something overpriced and stupid.

That new coffee shop coming to Avenue B has a name

Between Fourth Street and Third Street.

There are more than 20 empty storefronts along Avenue B

Let's take a walk up Avenue B, starting at Second Street.....

This spot will soon be home to a new coffee shop...but until then...

Still with me? By my count, that's 21 empty storefronts in 14 blocks, though you can't really count the three blocks on Avenue B that border Tompkins Square Park....so make that 21 storefronts in 11 blocks.
