Over at the former 9-17 Second Ave., Bendy Thing has given way to a large, wood-toting crane...
As you know, you always take photos of a crane lifting lumber over East First Street...

[Updated] And now, 3 photos of a really large crane on Union Square
We were so busy admiring the crane here next to the Zeckendorf Towers on East 14th Street near Irving Place, that we never got the official word what the workers were doing... heard a dad explain to his son that the workers were hoisting AC units to the roof...
Anyway, you always take pictures of large cranes. Thanks to everyone who sent in photos, including Dave on 7th...
An EV Grieve reader just sent along this shot of workers packing up the crane late this afternoon ...

Today outside the Hyatt Union Square
As the signs outside the incoming Hyatt Union Square on Fourth Avenue and 13th Street promised, a crane was on the scene today...
We were hoping to see them hoist the hydroponic bamboo garden. Unfortunately, it was a few things that looked like this.
What is this? (Please, no serious responses.)

Well, over here on Fourth Avenue and 13th Street... outside the incoming Hyatt Union Square, we can expect a
We think that they mean Feb. 18 and not 16. Since we didn't see a crane yesterday. In any event. No word on whether the crane will be lifting into place the hydroponic bamboo garden.

A ConEd Day today on Avenue A
They're putting up something or another atop the substation here on Avenue A between Sixth Street and Fifth Street... And nearly every ConEd employee is on hand to watch. Avenue A is screwy from Fourth Street to Seventh Street. Down to one lane.

Mobile crane alert! BMW Guggenheim Lab construction closes East First Street today
East First Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue is closed today, as you might expect after seeing the crane photo.
Workers are on the scene to install the urban think tank, which we're told is the yellow thing on the back of the truck.*

* Yes, that was a terrible joke.

Today in new ads that poke fun of people from Des Moines
Yesterday, we noted the crane on Second Avenue and Second Street... where workers were putting up a new ad...
We went back to see what the ad was for...
There is an East Village in Des Moines too.

You always take pictures of cranes
As my blogging professor taught me in my Remedial Blogging Class... (You always take pictures of cranes.)
Anyway, here on Second Avenue near Fifth Street... there is a large crane on the scene making a beer delivery to Kabin....
Kidding! They're actually creating an Bike Lane Obstacle Course. Mayor Bloomberg read that city officials did this in Amersterdam too.
Oh, c'mon ... it's early...

REALLY big crane doing something on Third Avenue
So Second Avenue is off limits to traffic with the street fair... Meanwhile, on Third Avenue between 13th and 14th Streets...this humungo crane is lifting something up to the roof at 111 Third Ave. And slowing down traffic. And making everyone look cautiously toward the sky.
