The rental that encourages you to party and find solace

Here we are at 60 Avenue C between Fifth Street and Sixth Street, where this three-bedroom apartment just hit that market for $3,700...

Check out the listing:

Sunday night roof deck get togethers and great parties await you. The apartment, which has exposed brick, is uncommonly spacious in a city known for shoebox apartments. The living room alone is like a cavern, while the adjoining outdoor space is enough for you and your friends to chill in the after-hours. The nightly quiet provides for an excellent atmosphere for concentration and solace.

Ranked #1 in New York City for Nightlife (by Nabewise), the East Village is one of the most sought-after places to live. atmosphere for concentration and solace. The kitchen comes equipped with standard appliances + dishwasher and plenty of counterspace. The rooftop comes with plank flooring and a picnic table! It's a nice walk to NYU!

According to the listing: "Guarantors Accepted."

Wai? Cafe relocating to Avenue B

Last week, we noted that Wai? Cafe on First Avenue had closed. However, EV Grieve reader Melissa reports that Wai? is relocating to 182 Avenue B near 11th Street. (An outgoing message at Wai? confirms the move to Avenue B.) The new location is expected to open in late May or early June.

The Little Bird, the vegan cafe that was in the space before, closed in January.

Workers have been renovating the 182 space in recents weeks.

Next stop of the 'Gossip Girl' tour — Veselka

Back in February, Veselka was closed for part of a day while crews filmed a scene for the television program "Gossip Girl" there...

And the Very Special Veselka episode aired last night...

To the Twittersphere for some reaction!

Why you couldn't drink at 7B yesterday afternoon

"Law & Order: Criminal Intent" was on the scene at the venerable Vazac's...

Just one of the dozens of shows/movies to film here on Seventh Street and Avenue B through the years, of course ... And, if you're interested, I recently came across a piece in New York magazine from January 1992 about the film shoots here...

Cienfuegos adds some umbrellas to the mix

We've been keeping tabs on the Cienfuegos Cuban-eatery complex on Avenue A at Sixth Street ... looks like the sidewalk cafe is ready for action now ...

Sunday! (Photo by Bobby Williams)

Looks like some people were squinting, so yesterday...

... the Cienfuegos team added some umbrellas...

Not sure if this whole set up is lurch-proof and East Village-weekend battle-tested ...

NYPD hunt for man who robbed Chase branch on Second Avenue

Via the Post:

The unidentified man pictured here slid the piece of paper to the female teller in the Chase Bank on Second Avenue and East 9th Street at about 9:15 a.m. Friday.

The note, written in black ink, read, “I have a gun. Give me all your money and return the slip to me with the money.”

The teller told her manager what happened, and the manger ordered her to hand over $776. The crook escaped with the loot.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, about 5-foot-7 with a medium build and fairly clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a black wrap around his sunglasses and a black waits length jacket.

Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.

Mara's Homemade sets closing date

Thanks to the multiple tipsters who passed along this link... As previously reported, Mara's Homemade, the Cajun eatery on East Sixth Street, is closing for a number of reasons, including:

We accepted a short term lease to give us time to re-locate or negotiate a longer term with our current landlord. Since that time, the BP explosion took place, bike lanes were installed on First and Second Avenues which reduced parking and the signs of future property tax increases have occurred.

Meanwhile, May 14 is their last day ... and they're opening a new place in Syosset, which might be a better fit for all those people who apparently drive to Mara's to eat.
