Balloon porn discovered in Tompkins Square Park

Thanks to EV Grieve reader Blue Glass for this shot... yesterday at the Carnival for Tompkins Square Middle School in Tompkins Square Park.... some mischief, perhaps, with the balloons... And at an event for kids. For shame. Maybe the Penistrator was making a non-wintertime appearance to keep us on guard...

A weekend for dicks

Well, I'm not sure how to explain this past weekend... cabin fever, perhaps, or Rush Week, but the neighborhood seemed to be full of more jackasses than usual... (We talked about it via Twitter)

In this environment, The Penistrator was free to flourish... There were sightings reported all over the neighborhood...

[Thanks to @patty_chung for this photo on East 10th Street]

Meanwhile, sorta on the topic... Bob Arihood notes the results of a beer-swollen bladder on East Fourth Street this past weekend...

Is a serial vomiter targeting the new Cooper Union building?

First, I apologize for this photo.

However! In the name of crackpot conspiracies news!

In the last month or so, I've walked by the new Cooper Union academic building and have noticed that someone had, well, barfed in the shadows at least six different times, usually on Friday, Saturday or Sunday mornings (duh) .... the first few times, well, ok, chuck it up chalk it up to its proximity to an ample number of students, tourists and bars...but after the fifth time, this is a trend.

There are many places to vomit in the neighborhood. Like in the bathroom at McSorley's. Or on the F train. Or my front steps. Why here so many times? Does someone have an issue with the new building? Is it just an inviting place to yak? Or, worse, after this neighborhood has had to deal with the Penistrator, is a Vomitrator now on the loose?

Snow is in the forecast tonight, which means....

We'll be watching you, Haley Joel...or whoever the dastardly Penistrator probably really is! Our traps have been set. Oh, wait. No football tonight. Hmm.

Meanwhile, the Splash photo of Mr. Osment from the other day showed him in front of an apartment building marked 310...

That would be 310 E. 12th Street between Second Avenue and First Avenue...right in the heart of the recent trail of snowffiti.

Which means... absolutely nothing!

The East Village Penistrator finally gaining attention of the international community

Thanks to the good people at the River blog for reporting on this news that deserves global coverage, especially overseas. Anyway, my Italian isn't so good. So I have no idea what this post says.

Our intern ran the post through The Yahoo! Babelfish translator...and it goes something like this:
-----
To Rome on the dirty cars there is who writes "washes to me", or more varying others veraci. To New York, from some time, there was a joker who went designing make them and an other series of "obscenity" on the parked cars. After a big wave of collective curiosity, of the case the net has been taken care also pettegolezza of Tmz, that it has sguinzagliato for Manhattan its photographers. At the end the graffitaro-penologo has been pecked: it would be such Haley Joel Osment, university student and protagonist of "The Sixth Sense".

1 floor down, 12 to go at 347 Bowery

The last time that we checked in on 347 Bowery in March, a cheap Penistrator knockoff saw fit to degrade the renderings on the plywood here at East Third Street by drawing a large [redacted].

We've come a long way since then. The building is now visible above the plywood…

A quick recap: Workers demolished the Salvation Army's former East Village Residence that was on this corner … to make way for a 13-story, 30,000 square-foot mixed-use residential development.

Per developer Urban Muse, the project will feature five 3-bedroom homes ranging from 2,100 to 4,000 square feet, two 2,000-square-foot commercial units and one 6,800-square-foot retail unit.

Annabelle Selldorf, who designed the nearby 10 Bond Street, is listed as the architect of record.

The lone rendering that we've seen looks to give neighbor 52E4 — the 15 stories of condo on the Bowery and East Fourth Street — some skyline company. The lot adjacent to 347 Bowery at 1-3 E. Third St. is also for sale as a development site.

Billie Joe has a boner

Also today today in important news items... it was inevitable that someone would deface the John Varvatos/Green Day ad on the old CBGB Gallery space ...

And, sure enough, a Penistrator imitator doodled on Billie Joe Armstrong...

Breaking: EV Grieve did not win the Mega Millions

Of course, we never even bought any tickets. Still, you never know. The winning tickets for the $640-million jackpot were from Maryland, Kansas and Illinois. (Just think: $640 million is roughly 3 percent of Mayor Bloomberg's $22 billion net worth!)

In any event, we did enjoy some of the homemade signs with updates during the Mega-Millions frenzy

And, here on Second Street and Avenue A, the Penistrator, or a clever imitator, did this last week...

NYPD raises Shepard Fairey threat level to 'high'

Heh. No! Just the NYPD protecting the Houston corridor for the Obama motorcade this evening...

Many thanks to EV Grieve reader Anna for the photos...

Exclusive: The Penistrator didn't act alone

Given the behavior of some Smurfs cast members this spring .... authorities released the above photo... perhaps as a cautionary tale of some sort.

If Village Green is so green, why are the lights left on all night?

Here we are at Village Green, the new condo going up at 311 E. 11th Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue. It is said to be the first LEED Gold certified building in the East Village. According to the marketing copy:

It began with a belief that better living is achieved through harmony: of mind and body, of time and place, of luxury and lifestyle. Introducing 311 E 11: Village Green. Developers Michael and Izak Namer created 311 E 11: Village Green with one goal in mind: to define environmentally responsible 21st century luxury living. 311 E 11: Village Green is targeted for LEED-Gold certification and serves as the vanguard for a new wave of eco-indulgent lifestyles. From its energy efficient amenities to the sophisticated wellness center it houses, 311 E 11: Village Green is the template for what all future luxury living will be.

I realize the lights will help keep intruders at bay. And I'm certain these are energy efficient lighting that makes the place a beacon of light from the avenues every night.

Anyway, the building is shaping up. Here's a view from the rear — also known as 12th Street, home, possibly of The Penistrator.

There are 36 units in total. Corcoran has 23 of them listed — with six in contract.

UPDATE: Curbed has more on it.
