  1. There are so many illegal additions to the tops of buildings in the East Village. I am so glad they will be made to remove them, even if it's just these two. There is no oversight of these developers or of their applications for renovations, and they operate as though the laws don't apply to them - as in, you are only guilty if you are caught, and they are rarely caught because people are so complacent. And people are complacent because landlords such as these design their units to be rented to transients who have no intention of staying more than a year or two, no investment in the neighborhood, and will never care enough to complain.
