Not such a hot spot

OK, so. Earlier this year, the franks place Good Dog closed on St. Mark's Place between Second Avenue and Third Avenue...and the pooch on the awning stayed for the second incarnation, Spots' Cafe. Which I never set foot in. Maybe no one else did either. It's gone.

  1. Maybe somebody needs to explore how cursed locations come into existence. Is this one? Even though I'm a dog, this big dog always scared me away. Did others think the same?

  2. Funny, I can't even remember what this spot was before Good Dog opened. And I walked by the location all the time.

Anyway, I didn't mind the pooch as much as others did. Be curious if the new business (whatever it is) will keep it...

  3. I've been here a few times. It wasn't a bad place - welcome respite from the coffee chains in the area. I believe the owner was always in the kitchen in the back, and the whole placed seemed pretty homey. They also had coffee-ice cubes in their iced coffee.

    So it goes.

  4. I like the dog and wish that other store owners would place oversized statues on their awnings.
