I think the dude got what was coming to him. Follow someone down the street, bitching and complaining about some preceived wrongdoing and this is what just might happen. Step back, mind your own f'n business and people will not smash you in the face with a bike lock.
Where do you think you are, the wild west? This is New York City. If someone harasses you, you talk some shit and shrug it off. Hitting someone in the head with a chunk of steel is assault with a deadly weapon, even if the pedestrian threw the first punch. You have a legal duty to retreat (i.e. get on your bike and just ride away) before using deadly force. I hope this guy gets thrown in rikers so he can find out how badass bike messengers really are in the grand scheme of things. This one is clearly a p*ssy for using a weapon instead of his fists against an unarmed grandpa.
If one of those blows had landed solidly, it could have easily killed the old man or given him severe brain damage. You think it's ok to subject someone to a risk of death because they're yelling at you? Take your scumbag machismo out of the city. I hear the jersey shore is beautiful this time of year.
I guess what happened before the camera started rolling was the biker almost ran over the pedestrian. A biker who would use a bike lock to hit someone probably doesn't give a crap if he hits or almost hits people on the street. Bad, bad biker...

this is why people hate cyclists
ReplyDeletewhat a coward using his lock as a weapon
i dunno. The cyclist tried to walk away, the pedestrian went after him. Messengers are experienced street dudes, you gotta be nuts to confront them!
ReplyDeleteAnyone know what precipitated this incident? Can't really tell from the video.
ReplyDeleteCurious about that myself, anon...
ReplyDeleteStreet theater has gotten totally out of hand.
