Have always been curious about the beauty parlor on 14th Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue... Always wondered if they knew about the salon/saloon mistake on the sign...
Did the sign company make the mistake or the salon/saloon owners figured what the hell? Or maybe the salon/saloon owners didn't notice? Or maybe they want to nab any lost people looking for the Beauty Bar up the street...
Every time I eat at Curly's down the block I'm tempted to stick my head in and ask them... but I figure most likely they already know and will be annoyed at being reminded. On the other hand, perhaps I would be breaking the news to them which I don't think I could bear. Either way, doesn't seem necessary.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, it isn't just the canopy, it appears in multiple places and sometimes on other signs they put outside... somebody must have noticed?
I've thought the same thing, Geoff. And one sign might be a mistake...but EVERY sign... I won't tell you how long I've been thinking about this...
ReplyDeleteClick on the sign to enlarge it. You will see that not only is it a "saloon" but they are probably the only saloon in the city offering "Heena" "Tatooes". This has been driving me INSANE for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteThe words "Saloon" and "Salon" are frequently interchanged in the Indian subcontinent. Just a quirk of Indian English.
ReplyDeleteIf it were a Saloon they'd probably have a lot more customers in the place, but usually when I pass by it's empty. I think there's something about getting my eyebrows waxed in front of a giant window with everybody watching that would make me very paranoid.
