As you may have heard... per UrbanDaddy:
Fresh off the beautiful disgrace of Champagne Tuesdays, the Alphabet City bandits are debuting a Wednesday night bash called Kegmaster's Select. A $20 cover gives you VIP access to every drop of booze and beer in the place, including hoppier samples from the favored brewery of the week. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you might even venture down the stairs in back to explore the sketchy new basement space below, newly dubbed Maddog. It should be as far under the radar as you ever want to go.
And a belated thanks to the perhaps anonymous reader who submitted the photo...
cool pic, dude.
ReplyDeleteThanks... it's actually reader-submitted. Need to add that!
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to front and say I've ever been accepting of Superdive, because I've hated it since the moment it put up that clownish sign and opened its doors to the city's subjackass set. But all you can drink for a mere $20 has horrible, HORRIBLE idea written all over it, and the extreme drunkenness, overcrowding, and street overflow it will cause will also almost inevitably result in alcohol poisonings, fights, and people getting run the fuck over in traffic.
ReplyDeleteIt will be tragic if(/when) such bad things befall the patrons, sad momma's/frat boys and the remedial "woo!!!" girls who love them, rather than the irresponsible, greedy, nihilistic assholes who run Superdive.
shutup idiot there's tons of all you can drink situations in the city
ReplyDeleteI thought all you can drink specials were banned by the SLA.. Im pretty sure I read that somewhere in the last few days.
ReplyDeleteYes, Anonymous 1:51, and wherever those all-you-can-drink situations occur, rude and abrasive assholes like yourself arrive in packs.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows that the "all you can drink" concept works best at HOME. Jesus, I knew that in fucking high school! So forgive me my disgust for the fools who will only learn this lesson after puking their guts out all over our block.
XOXO
The Idiot
niallmacdhubhain, the SLA does prohibit all you can drink specials:
ReplyDelete"The ABC Law prohibits from selling, serving, delivering or offering to patrons an unlimited number of drinks during any set period of time for a fixed price. The law also requires that licensees prohibit party organizers, promoters, etc., from engaging in this conduct in the licensees’ establishment. The statute also prohibits licensees from creating drink specials which, in the judgment of the Authority, are attempts to circumvent the law. This includes offerings of free drinks, or multiple drinks for free or for the price of a single drink, or for a low initial price followed by a price increment per hour or other period of time. The SLA does allow 2 for 1, half price and other such specials where the price of a drink is not lower than one-half of the premise's normal or regular price for the same drink. Section 117-a does not apply to private functions not opened to the public, such as weddings, banquets, or receptions, or other similar functions or to a package of food and beverages where the service of alcoholic beverages is incidental to the event or function. If you have questions about whether a particular drink special would be a violation of Section 117-a, or whether a particular event is exempt from the statute, please contact the Authority’s Office of Counsel."
