Another East Village pizza parlor closes

Yesterday morning, Chris O'Leary noted that Singas Famous Pizza (below, in better days) on Second Avenue between 11th Street and 12th Street had paper covering its windows...

When I walked by last night, the joint was packed up and, apparently, gone...

  1. I can't say I am sad, in my opinion they had terrible pizza, it reminded me of my high school cafeteria.

  2. They weren't serving an 'authenthic' Singas pizza. If you want a 'real' Singas pizza, the one by Elmhurst, LIC, or Flushing are good.

Also, they may be opening a location in Alphabet City.

  3. At the former Pizza Shop, perhaps??

  4. let's just hope so, whether it'd be an authentic singas or other pizza shop -- as long it ain't another bar

  5. Bless you, Grieve, for using the term "pizza parlor." My grandmother used to get Italian pie from the pizza parlor and eat it with a knife and fork.

  6. Damn. I liked to stop into Singas for one of their little pizzas before I went to the movie theater on 12th and 2nd.
