Long live Gizmo

Given what's happening the next block up on First Avenue with Village Fabrics... here's an appreciation for Gizmo Notion...a seemingly rare breed these days around here...

  1. Go in and BUY SOMETHING. A pair of scissors, some thread and pins, a couple yards of leather cord to hang your pendants on...GIzmo's the last. He must stay!

  2. Finally someone intelligent has written something about this wonderful and rare fabric and notions shop in the East Village. 20 years ago, I had my sewing machine repaired there and it's been humming every since. I have purchased upholstery fabric to cover my dinning room chairs; exquisite yards of brocade in which I have made drapes for my living room and bedroom, and zippers to finish pillows that adorn my bed. The service I received has always been excellent and the man is always wearing a smile--even in this economy. Let's support this business because of it's contribution to our neighborhood, and it's the last of it's kind.

    Blessings,

    Tadree
