Mattress factory

Seems to be a more active move in/move out end-of-month/beginning-of-month period than usual... seems as if more people are moving out than moving in... While walking around yesterday and today, I counted 17 abandoned mattresses... I started taking pictures of them... but you get the idea...

And none of them were marked "bedbugs."

  1. Mattresses are everywhere in the East Village these last few days, and every time I see one, I think, "Bedbugs!"

  2. THESE MATTRESSES SHOULD AT THE VERY LEAST BE SPLASHED WITH PAINT -- THEREBY MAKING THE ITEM UNDESIRABLE TO THOSE STILL UNAWARE OF THE LATEST IN CITY LIVING !!

  3. I'm even afraid to buy a new mattresss these days, though I really need one, for fear of the buggy critters...I can't imagine anyone picking up one of these nasty ones from the street.

  4. if someone really wants a used gross-ass mattress, bed bugs may be the least of their issues.

  5. HippieChick - when you buy a new mattress, they deliver it in the same truck that they use to take the old mattresses away. I'd recommend picking it up from the store yourself or making sure they wrap it in plastic really well.

  6. I've been taking photos of the same things, because there is such a preponderance of them recently!
