When dogs poop near diners outside Zum Schneider

Yesterday afternoon, the folks here on Seventh Street outside Zum Schneider were enjoying some food and drinks...

...when along came a young woman with a fairly large dog, who proceded to befoul the sidewalk right near the tables... without as much as slowing down, the woman continued on her way, turning south on Avenue C... the diners at the table on the far left above were fairly horrified/angry... one yelled something like, "Hey, your dog just took a dump. You have to clean that up."

I cannot say whether the woman was simply lazy or poorly mannered... or if this was an act of aggression toward touristy people eating outdoors...

P.S.
I did not photograph any of the evidence or the dog owner in question. You'll have to trust me on this one.

  1. Looks like the area is ripe for a Jay Shells poster. He does take requests.

  2. Seems like the block has been getting a whole lot 'shittier'. Walking from my house to Avenue B on the north side is like a Cambodian minefield!

  3. Yesterday must have been a bad behavior day for dog owners. I was sitting with a friend outside Pomodoro Pizzeria on Second Avenue between 10th and 11th Streets when this guy came walking by us with two dogs. One dog was walking slowly, hanging back, like maybe he was hot or not feeling good, and the loser owner yanked on his leash and whacked him on the neck a couple of times. The dog's name was Ronnie. I know that because his owner kept yelling at him. It was really awful. The guy crossed over Second Avenue and went down 11th Street toward Third Avenue. I wish I had said something looking back, but the guy appeared to be a short little rage-aholic, so I don't think it would have gone so well.

  4. As a life time resident of ST, this is SOP for the new, narcissistic, self absorbed, no empathy, it’s all about ME mentality that now populates ST and the EV.

  6. Since they stopped allowing dogs to dine outside - they deserve as many dogs shitting by customer tables as possible.

    1. Dogs should not be allowed within 100 feet of any establishment with a food license.

  8. It's against the law for dogs (or any animal) to be within the confines of an outdoor cafe. They must be kept outside of that area.

I don't understand why people have such a difficult time obeying the law.
