Making faces at the Downtown Tire & Auto Center

Some new art went up at the Downtown Tire & Auto Center on the Bowery at Great Jones...

...and when the gates are closed, it looks like this...

I asked one of the workers here who the artist was, but he didn't know.... And thanks to the readers who chimed in: This is the work of WK Interact. Check out his site.

Maybe these faces are to help ward off potential suitors for the space...

  1. Those paste-ups look like the work of WK Interact, a French street artist who had a gallery show here in NYC last summer. I have seen a few of his other paste-ups around the Lower East Side, Alphabet City, and the Meatpacking District (including http://www.flickr.com/photos/salim/3732019167/).

  2. I like it a lot better than the usual rollerblading-ninja stuff from WK.
