And now, visual confirmation of the orange Lamborghini

Yesterday, Foursquare's Dennis Crowley tweeted: There's nothing more out of place than an orange Lamborghini in the East Village.

And now, thanks to EV Grieve reader Joe, we have visual confirmation of said car:

On Seventh Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue...

  1. Looks like a job for EV Heave and his secret army.

  2. Honestly, who drives a Lamborghini, orange or otherwise? Was Nikki Sixx in town or something?

  3. I friggin' LOVE that car! I've stopped it outside my apt a few times. I love that it's orange, too. If you're going to get a sportscar, then GET A SPORTSCAR. Trying to make it less ostentatious by getting it in black with black tinted windows is just living in douchebag denial. Orange Lambo, you are a welcome addition to the EV, sir.

*This message brought to you by a native Detroiter who rarely gets to see cool cars anymore.*

  5. There's a pic of this car in front of Mars Bar on Flickr somewhere...can't find it at the moment. I've seen it on E 1st a few times and assumed the owner must live in an Avalon bldg. Damn ugly color.

  6. Same color as the parking ticket tucked under its wiper - noticed when I walked past last night.

  7. It's not a douchebag who owns the car, it's a woman, seemingly friendly and she lives in the neighborhood.

Is it okay with you whiners to have a nice car in the East Village, or should we ask the CBA/SL3 for approval for a local resident to have a nice car if she wants to.

I am all for keeping the Murray Hill peeps in Murray Hill, but you guys kill me.

  8. There are many gorgeous foreign sports cars in the hood.

  9. Richard quit starting to start shit where there is none.

No one here has said anything that horrible about the sportscar. In fact, the very opposite.

    Now move along.

Perhaps you missed comments by Pinhead, Alex In NYC, while they didn't say anything "horrible", I think we can easily interpret their implied disapproval of a (gasp) sportscar in the EV.

I think this is a great blog, I read it daily, however, I have watched the commenters become a caricature of themselves. I too, want to preserve what makes NYC special, reject the McDonalds/Starbucks/Bank/etc-ifying of the city and the EV, but quite frankly, many of the comments on here are a joke, the EV never was and will be quiet, it has always had a ton of bars, and that's not going to end.

Wishing for this utopian era there never was is futile, I am simply speaking my opinion (beauty of the internet) and stating a more moderate opinion about our neighborhood and rejecting the typical kneejerk response from MANY (not all) commenters that anything new, expensive, fancy in the EV is a bad thing.

  11. Good for you, Richard. You are totally correct. But unfortunately on blogs such as this, you're more likely to find the knee jerk reaction "Erin Bradley" types.

  12. I hear you Richard, and I'm totally on your side.

Everyone's a little too precious these days.

I embrace change. It's what NYC's all about.

I was just saying this didn't seem like one of those holier-than-thou pile-on posts.

I just want the Orange Lambo to be able to shine in all its Orange Lambo glory.

Because you read this blog daily, you know that while plenty of serious topics are covered, much of the content (and comments) is tongue-in-cheek. A sense of humor helps. (BTW, I don't really believe EV Heave has a secret army.)

  14. @Pinhead

True, it's an army of one, but I hope the other team doesn't know that yet.

  15. @EV Lambo

But Lovers Will Love. So you have that going for you.

  16. this isn't the first sighting of an orange fancy car in the ev. there was one in front of mars bar. i wonder if this orange lambo is the same owner of that one.

  17. Can I just say that I love being "an 'Erin Bradley' type"?

I don't know why my name is in quotes. Are you implying that it's fake? If so, please be assured that I'd pick something way cooler.

    "Pepper Bromenthal" or "Titsy LaWhore"

at the very least "EV LAMBO."

  18. @ "Erin" Heh!

Brilliant... and I look to future bands named "Pepper Bromenthal" or "Titsy LaWhore"

  19. @ Richard: Me too that, what Richard said.

  20. FYI: the car's got Florida plates. orange, Florida? right...
