Is the East Village the greatest neighborhood for eating in the entire universe?

Afternoon tweet from Bar Boulud sommelier Michael Madrigale...

  1. Can you eat a meal in any of these restaurants for $15 ?

  2. @Anonymous re: $15

Why, yes. A sandwich at Porchetta is $10. Arepas at Caracas are $7 or less, and empanadas are even less.

  3. Why do we care what "Michael Madrigale" thinks? Don't know him, don't care.

  5. Ahhh, Mogador has been around for 25 years, it can't help it if yuppies appreciate the great Moroccan food!

  6. Service at Pylos is SHIT - and the food is good but not good enough to take a plate of shit with the food. I'll take the train to Astoria, better food, better prices, no attitude, and they don't run out of Ouzo. (Pylos was out of Ouzo last time we went (emphasis on last).) Its rare I eat in places like this.
