Hey Grieve just went to the new 5 Guys on 34th Street Friday. It was an insane mad house. It's fast food. Was it good? I guess. But a burger and fries was $10.68. So not *that* good.

Wait, what happened to the Bagel joint? 5G is great, awesome burgers, awesome fries. There are just so many burger joints around us, a bagel joint would be welcome, I thought. Or a Fishmonger, for that matter.

ReplyDeleteI like Five Guys - good burgers, hot dogs and cajun fries. I've only been to the one on La Guardia, which can get busy at lunch time, but I've never seen it out of hand.

ReplyDeleteThe manager in the kitchen was screaming "Let's go guys, LET'S GO!!!" at the cooks every 30-60 seconds. That is not an exaggeration. I felt like Chairman Mao was hovering nearby.
To tell you the truth Five Guys Burgers and Fries franchise is a fast food burger joint stylized in red and white. They serve burgers, franks, fries, soda, water. They serve no alcohol and are open seven days a week from 11 to 10, and it appears from photos that they do not have outdoor seating, in the front at least. This is the type of place that you either eat and leave, or take out. Restaurants like this come and go while others like Westville continue to leave their mark with their audacious display of arrogance.

The 34th street crowd is like a mosh pit at a rave. Alphabet City is primarily residential.
