  3. What? His bike is facing south.

Are you both looking at a different photo?

  4. The biker and his bike are facing north on Second Avenue. You can see his handle bars.

The two can people in the bike lane are going south, in the correct direction of the giant arrow. They just shouldn't BE there....

  5. Ohhh ok the BIKER is facing south. Can't be sure about the bike. And for the record I have nothing against bikers!
It's funny that the bike lane is being used for everything BUT biking. I have seen people jogging in them and THAT irks me.

  6. the biker is facing north and i assume so is his bike - the traffic is going in the opposite direction - south - if it's second avenue.
i watched the bikes on first avenue this evening as they crossed over in every direction in every lane. it was almost like a bikers dance. except it was dangerous for pedestrians.

  10. yes everyone uses the bike lane except the bikers: people in wheelchairs, skate boarders, joggers, kids on bikes, runners, cars and an occasional bicycler.
if the bikers ALL used the bike lane others would think twice before entering the bike space. right now the bike lanes are mostly empty and it is the safest lane for everyone else. the only danger is driver side car doors.
let's license bikes and fine them as we do cars and pedestrians. we all have to obey some rules.

    ????

Click the photo to enlarge it. It is of Second Avenue. The traffic and the bike lane goes south. The pushcart person and the shopping cart person are walking south.

    The biker is facing north.

    How is that not obvious???

Congratulations, you win the award for most incoherent comment of the day.

Not to mention it's almost totally void of any factual data to back up your complaining.

  13. i could have worded it better. few bikers use the bike lane.
my writing errors are not the issue.
just stand on first avenue and watch the dance of the bicycles.
you don't need data to see the most disorganzied traffic in the city.
the situation is made worse by verizon and con edison who have taken over the bike and bus lanes on some blocks.
    good luck to us all.

  14. Pretty sure that guy isn't riding against traffic, he's just taking a break. He's not even on his bike. He's on the sidewalk and his bike is against the curb. Also, it's definitely in the right direction if you magnify. Unless he has a bike without handlebars.

But definitely easier to vilify him.

  15. Oh yeah, so when I turn around to look behind me, I must be going in that direction!
