East 10th Street storefront lassos Cowgirl Cupcakes
Thanks to EV Grieve reader Leesy for this shot of Cowgirl Cupcakes coming to East 10th Street between Avenue A and First Avenue. No word on an opening date... And I do like the art on the roll-down gate. Maybe it's the image makeover that the often-maligned cupcake needed?

Oh my god, CUPCAKE FATIGUE
ReplyDeleteNot only are they effing everywhere you turn, they are pretty lazy and low-skill as far as baked goods go. Open a petit four shop and I'll be impressed!
And sorry, Grieve, but that art is fairly bad. Look at the loop of that lasso. I do love graffiti style murals when executed by talented people, but this looks kind of slapdash and amateur. It is better than some plasticky sign, though.
Thank God we're getting another cupcake place. There just aren't enough of them.
ReplyDeleteThen again it could be a bar, which would be worse!
cowgirls + cupcakes = double heave.
ReplyDeleteI like the cupcake gate art.
ReplyDeletenext up: cowboy fro-yos; rodeo ramen; and, of course, ranch condos
ReplyDeleteyeehaw! welcome to little wisco indeed
Fuck these specialty cup-cake stores. Talk about frivolous. When I want a cup-cake (very rare) I just go over to Veselka and be done with it. As previous poster suggested, a cup-cake does not warrant its own specialty store!
ReplyDeleteCan you say housewife vanity business project?
ReplyDeleteAll about the Cowgirls on Kickstarter
ReplyDeleteWell I guess I am partially to blame and happily so I love these people. I donated to their Kickstarter campaign. I went to a kickstarter/rooftop films event in Park Slope and they had promised tons of food- but not much ended up being offered. These ladies were there and I was SO hungry, I hadn't eaten all day thinking I would eat there but nada!..so I got three cupcakes (organic and vegan), and ate them all over the course of the evening. I was ready for the sweets headache and ugh feeling the next day but nothing but normal healthy feelings. They are great ladies who make great stuff- the cookies they sent us after the Kicstarter campaign was over- again so wonderful and no sick sugar shock. Give'm a chance. It's not just cupcakes its other baked goods and dough you can take home to bake at home or freeze for later I have had Veselka cupcakes too and those were guilty pleasures, these are just pleasure not much guilt :)

Thanks for the info, C Merry. I appreciate women entrepreneurs, and I will definitely be giving them a shot before writing them off. I wish them much success in our very friendly neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteD'oh! That's on my block, and I haven't noticed it. I won't be a Negative Nancy like the rest of y'all. I'll give them a shot, especially if they're making vegan treats.
