High rents apparently doomed Village Fabrics, which closed on First Avenue and 11th Street back at the end of the summer... We all figured something Momofukuey would take over the corner spot... Well! EV Grieve First Avenue correspondent Blue Glass brings us the news of the new tenant:
A consignment shop called Eleven... with the tagline "where style is only the beginning." I'll take it.
Previously on EV Grieve:
Closing sale at Village Fabrics
Village Fabrics to close next month
Oh oh! This is one block from me, I'm thrilled. Halal cart and shopping for some cool old duds makes 1/11 a new treat.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Buffalo Exchange is only 1/2 block away, and No Relation is only 1 block, I am crossing my fingers all can survive...
Great news for the EV! :) Let's be sure to shop there; even if it means just buying a $4 scarf or something to help our new NON-LIQUOREY neighbors!

Let's also not forget Magic Fingers, the small antiques and jewelry store on 10th Street between 1st and 2nd, another good place that's been around for a long time. We should all support such businesses, they're vital to keeping this neighborhood SOMEWHAT interesting and local.
ReplyDeleteNot a bar!
ReplyDeleteIt's a Christmas miracle!
@Lisa Indeed! Magic Fingers is another great shop... Support our local businesses!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's code for a 7 Eleven...
ReplyDeleteMaybe someone should put together a directory of all "non-liquorey", non-douchy shops in the 'hood. not it!
ReplyDeletebut seriously, it would help. all this grieving is for nothing if nothing comes of it.
Yay new clothes! Also the consingment term is cool this could mean they'll sell local designer's work (right?) :) Would love to see local people's work :)
ReplyDeleteto Anonymous -- there is just such a directory of EV businesses, published by the EV Community Coalition.
ReplyDeleteEleven is the other half of seven, which is my lucky number. Great news.
ReplyDeletei am excited but just hope it's affordable.
ReplyDeleteyou know grieve, i think we should put together a "good business" list, including bars we like and why, etc and maybe can turn it into like an unofficial rulebook/how-to they can pass out at cb3's.. for new businesses who want to do right by the community...
@ glamma--cool idea!!!
