This Saturday night: Tompkins Square Everywhere/Save Charas Projection

This Saturday night, John Penley and filmmaker Vlad Teichberg (right) are holding an event at the former P.S. 64/Charas space on East Ninth Street between Avenue B and Avenue C... This is a makeup date from the Halloween night protest/fiesta that organizers cancelled after Penley was maced the night before... Teichberg will be projecting some of his work on the Charas wall... Later on, they'll be a holiday party at Kate's Joint on Avenue B... The Charas event starts at 10 p.m.

  2. Good to see John come out of hiding. Can he shed some light on what happened and why he felt like he had to hide? Is the situation resolved?

  3. The night before the Halloween Event someone came up behind me next to La Plaza Cultural and maced me in the face.I have no idea if this was connected to the Halloween Protest or not but it freaked me out and that is why I was awol on Halloween. As people may know there were a number of veiled threats made here and I have a number of enemies because of my Anti-Yuppie NYU Landlord Real Estate Developer Protests. I apologize to those who showed up and hope you will join me on Saturday.Ok, That said let the anonymous bashing begin ! Save Charas Hands Off Tompkins Square Park Happy Holidays Let's Project Protest and Party. Love to my supporters and to the rest of you Die Yuppie Scum !!!!

  7. I read this blog often enough. there were never any threats made to Penley that I have seen. He accused me of threatening him. Might you be suffering from some Paranoid delusions Penley? Sound like an angry and unstable character. the kind that always migrated to the EV. Sounds like you're in your milieu. Suggestion, be sure to be on your meds when you go west of 2nd Avenue and north of 14th Street. The rest of NYC might not be so tolerant of your psychosis.

  8. Shouldn't the term 'Die Yuppie Scum' be considered a threat as well?

  10. To the last comment put your name on it I don't give a s whether you believe it or not. I hate cowardly people who will not back up their comments! If you are a Yuppie Die Yuppie scum might be considered a threat.I have never missed any other event I organized before so why this one? If you saw me then were you with me all night? No so you don't know what happened and I think you might be the cop who has been threatening me for a long time are you a cop ?

  12. This is sad.
I was bashed out of the evil for housing a homeless person, while I was being evicted the yuppie who went on the stand against me said that my friend who I was letting stay with me - Markey Bena - "Had nothing to lose"
He died this summer and I still feel anguish at this problem. first holiday season without the old sot.
The phrase Die Yuppie Scum doesn't mean John Penley is going to bash you with a die yuppie scum stick. It's a phrase calling attention to the fact that people who come to the east village looking for a cheap start to their eventual suburban or upper east side manse will live elbow to elbow with those who choose to make the evil their own. However, be it in a squat, a garden or hanging on the street or in the park.
Would I ever go on a stand on swear as truth that a neighbor has nothing to loose?
    Never....but a yuppie did.
I stay anon cause there are cops out here looking for a fight. And others as well.
Anyone who needs to know who I am knows who I am.
Good Luck w/Charas. I lived right behind it...until I got screwed by a yuppie.

  13. what is wrong with being an agitator?
OWR are you saying Penley is paid to state his pov.?
    c'mon...that's starbuck's thinking.
if starbucks gets Rays, will there be a Penley lacha macha loco on the menu?
    get over yourself.
if you'd been cleaning out the dumps left behind when the speculators on the tenements didn't get their recoup, and I mean cleaning out human waste that I had to wait 'til it froze so I could haul it out of the bldg I was working on, if you'd been there and worked with me, then I'd consider your bash as a possibility. tho thinking about it, probably not.
If you need attention, find it some place else.
the east village has historically been home to anarchists, artists and malcontents. Why should that change becausee somebody wants to develop a historic landmark for cash?
