Another reason why the super may have been pissed at Lady Gaga

[Photo by Cat Sitter in the City]

Yesterday, our friend Cat Sitter in the City told us that Lady Gaga was giving Anderson Cooper and film crew a tour of her old Lower East Side haunts, including her onetime home at 176 Stanton. This apparently ticked off the super, who called the NYPD to complain about her intrusion...

In any case, as a tipster told us, perhaps the super didn't want anyone to know that workers were renovating part of the building — without any proper permits from the DOB.

Also, several readers pointed out that this interview will be part of Cooper's "60 Minutes" feature on Lady Gaga that airs before the Grammy Awards on Feb. 13.

  2. When the guy saw the camera, he was probably afraid they were documenting the illegal, non-permitted work. Has anyone who lives in the building called the DOB to report them?

  3. Maybe Lady Gaga is launching her campaign to get a seat on CB 3! She doesn't want Chloe to get their first. Get with the program people - these celebrities love all the shit that is happening down here. They are smart enough to realize like the religious right that the best way to impose your will on a community is through local government like community boards, school boards, the PTA etc. Takes alot of money to run for Congress, but it takes nothing to get elected to a community board etc. Once on one of these local bodies they can use their star power to dazzle other members and get their brother a liquour license to open a club or support a decision to let the guggenheim and bmw use a vacant lot for their own marketing etc. I bet Cooper is gonna ask to serve on his CB too, but that neighborhood is shot so . . .but here we still have a chance - thanks for gracing us with your presence Lady G and Anderson C, but we don't need you or want you in the LES. Hey someone call DOB about the illegal construction or perhaps tip off Anderson and he can do a CNN expose on all of the illegal construction that rips the heart out of the LES!

  4. Penny Arcade also used to live in this building.

  5. Calls to the DOB about illegal construction go nowhere. The DOB will, someday, make it out there, but as long as they are not working at the time, no foul no fine - even when it's obvious that work WAS done illegally. DOB and 311 are a really, really bad joke.

  6. I disagree! I was able to get so many things stopped. I'm not saying that they aren't corrupt, but there are stop work orders all over the city and we all need to take the time to call things in. Also keep the confirmation number.

  7. Yeah, they do come out. Call 311 and report the work. It is so obvious here. There is a window missing! You can see how torn up it is inside. And if they ask any of the neighbors across the street, they can confirm work is being done.

  8. Once again, we see how the CIA tries to engineer our popular culture -
