What is a Virtual Doorman????
ReplyDeleteWhat a deal!
ReplyDeletea virtual doorman is a service that has a camera and "talks" the the visitor and ascertains whether to let them in or not, and then acts accordingly.
ReplyDeleteactually "they" control the buzzer.
more progress in the effort to replace people with machines.
Actually, a visitor would speak with an operator at an off site location who is monitoring the cameras remotely and the operator would call the resident, much like a doorman would to announce the visitor. Once the resident agrees, the operator would then remotely unlock the courtyard door as well as the entry door to the building. This building has a beautiful courtyard which has a secure entry, as well as another entry door from the courtyard to the building. The service also provides monitoring of the cameras and can intervene over a speaker in the event that there is loitering at the building. Not sure that the East Village is overflowing with doorman buildings where this service is replacing the doorman, but at this specific building, it's probably a step up from a traditional intercom, which 95% of the East Village currently use for visitor entry. Hope that helps define the service a bit more for all.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious as to why there is a rental unit. Seems strange - is there some hidden benefit to having a rental in a condo building?
ReplyDeleteI had assumed someone bought it as an investment and is renting it out...? Or renting it out until they move in?
ReplyDeleteThe punctuation and random capitalization in that ad makes my eyes hurt.
