Timber! at the 13th Street haunted house

EV Grieve reader Adam reports that workers have returned to the abandoned building at 222 E. 13th St. And what are they doing Adam?

"Workers seem to be emptying the house of timber, which is weird. Yes, timber. As in pieces of trees. They are loading it into a pickup truck out front."

  1. I've always wanted to know what the inside of this place looks like. Get some interior shots next time!

  2. "The House of Timber." Wasn't that a Parker Posey movie?

  3. Is he sure that wasn't the floor beams taken out? Neighbors of that long-abandoned building on 4th and Bowery say they caught the owner carrying out floor timbers in hopes it would fall down.

  4. hey, cvinzant.
they definitely weren't floorboards--they were neatly sawed lengths of tree limbs. maybe they took down a rogue tree from the rear garden.
given the state of this place, i wouldn't even be surprised if a tree was growing inside the house.

  5. Don't know about trees, but I bet they're doing a gut renovation and stripping the place bare.
