Going southbound

Looking south on Second Avenue toward Seventh Street... with the Fillmore East in the background. April 1972.

  1. Great pic. The Fillmore East was closed for business by April '72, of course (shut down June 27, 1971, with a rather less spectacular than expected final concert, at which I was present). This photo was taken in the temporal limbo before it became a gay disco, when other rock entrepreneurs were considering taking it over. But they didn't. And now it's a bank. And apartments. Sic transit.
