April 17

Here we are on East Sixth Street between Avenue A and Avenue B... where Riian caught what may or may not be leftover from the Dec. 25 holiday. Still, Riian adhered to the strict ICTTS-sanctioned rules and had the thing in the pot tree photographed with the Sunday Times...

We reached out to Gruber MacDougal, chief spokesperson of the International Coalition of Tree Tossing in the Spring (ICTTS), for reaction. However, he was en route to a ICTTS corporate retreat on Sveti Stefan Island in Montenegro and unavailable for comment.

  1. Yes, I suppose Montenegro is a nice place to relax on the whole however I would have presumed the island of Mustique more to be more to Mr. MacDougal's liking as Montenegro may still have a chill in the air this time of year.

  2. Hope a lesser spokesperson is still in the country. I submitted an April 18th tree and await official approval.

  3. I'm not knocking Riian's fine efforts, but I think anything in a pot should be disqualified. As far as Gruber MacDougal goes...no wonder he wouldn't tell me what the prize is. That son of a bitch has embezzled the prize money and taken off for warmer climates!

  4. I will find a tree on December 30th and RULE THE WORLD!

  5. 'Grieve; be aware of any photos taken after the May closing of "Sleep No More". Those shouldn't count unless they can prove the photo hasn't been taken along W.27th St.

  6. I thought we'd come to understand potted trees ddon't count. what a rip. Should I just take the tree I keep in my freezer out now? No, thats cheating.

  7. Eden Bee, if you found a tree on the sidewalk on December 30th, everyone would think it was a Christmas 2011 tree, not a Christmas 2010 tree.

This is why I believe the winner should be anyone who finds a tree found as close to December 24, 2011 as possible.

  8. Where are the rest of the damn officials???? It was suggested I claim travel expenses for my latest tree finding, & I'd like to submit all the necessary paperwork.
