I'm kinda betting this place doesn't have individual keyed elevators, wood burning fireplaces or Venetian plaster museum-finished walls (the actual term for which, if this doofus has done his /her homework, is Marmorina or Stucco Lustro). But I like it.
The guy who lives here is a joker. He blasts his 70's soul while he keeps on display his vast collection of liquor and chefs knives on the table. Wonder what the school children think of this guy??
I swear I've walked past this window and noticed the bottles as well. Is it on the ground floor between 1st & A? right after you pass the parking lot/courtyard while you're heading East?
I am a different anonymous than 5:51 but I have the same impression of this guy. Many times I have walked past and noticed that he's always partying in there! Once he even catcalled at me from his sofa. I am usually annoyed by guys hooting at me on the street but I have a weird sympathy for a guy who hoots from his living room.
This dude has been swayin' to that soul for at least the last ten years i have been around and no doubt longer. heard he cat calls the ladies which is unfortunate. It isn't just in the warm weather by the way. He has his window open, with that impressive bar sometimes year round.
My older child goes to the school across the street and we often pause in the afternoon to listen to his music. My 3 year old has danced a few times in front of the window.
He was playing a lot of Michael Jackson there for a while.
at least it's like being in abc land when there was a edge and thrill walkin the avenue Hope he turns it up for the co-op yuppies and green tea and muffin crowd
haha i LOVE how many people knew exactly which apt this was! that freakin guy is the best. rock on with yo bad a$$ self. ev grievers love you! hey now!
i want to live my life like a permanent disco regardless of temperature, or the outside world. i want to drink my gin on the rocks, yo and just boogey oogey oogey all day long.
What? No anonymous signs trying to get him to stop this disruptive behavior? Nobody is offended by the liquor bottles in full view of school-age children? Nobody organizing a sidewalk protest against the music selection and volume? And you call yourselves curmudgeons ...
This guy is the man! We all call him "Chillmaster". He honestly chills harder than anyone I have ever seen chill in my entire life. Would love to hear a back-story or have someone interview him.
I don't think I've ever seen the window closed or the table not set with booze. Has anyone ever seen this place *not* ready for a party? Who is this guy and where can I buy his guide to life?
CHILLMASTER FLEX. what a hero for chillers everywhere. One time my friends and I were drunk during the day and we had a chillmaster dance party outside of his window. he liked it.
anyone ever notice that the majority of those liquor bottles he uses as decoration are empty?

ReplyDeleteHe's THE BEST. If you walk up to the window and say hello, he'll usually talk to you. A huge fixture of spring/summer in ABC.
