Dining with the red-tailed hawk in Tompkins Square Park

Last night, Bobby Williams pointed out the arrival of a red-tailed hawk in the Park.

This evening, East Village-based photographer Stacie Joy saw the hawk too... right at dinner time.

Per Stacie: "It was an awesome spectacle, except for the kids pelting the hawk with super-soakers and rocks."

  1. WHAT THE FUCK!??!?!? "Kids pelting the hawk with super soakers and rocks"???? If I'd seen that, I'd have pelted the little savages myself. Or at least called a cop. Was there no one there to stop such atrocious behavior? Hopefully the hawk will stick around in spite of it..

  2. Sigh. This is why we can't have nice predators

  3. That's appalling. Is this how kids are now?

I was in TSP recently and saw kids catching fireflies and my heart was warmed for a second -- until I realized that they were catching them solely to kill them. (!?)
