The man in the window at 9 Second Ave.

On Saturday, I was walking on Second Avenue when I noticed a man standing in the window upstairs at 9 Second Ave. (aka 7 1/2 Second Ave.). Not a big deal, except I thought that everyone had already moved out in advance of the demolition.

I circled around and took better look... He seemed to be intently staring out the window, perhaps taking in the view one last time...

Heh. Well! Perhaps the mannequin has been there and I just never noticed it... or maybe someone placed it there upon moving out. Maybe give the construction workers pause.

  1. Or maybe it's just like the scene in Three Men and a Baby...

  2. Or "I Am Legend". Which is more appropriate since when the sun sets, the streets of the EV, the LES and the Bowery are turned into screaming Zombie land. God, I do so relate to that scene when Will Smith and his dog are in the bathtub together.

  3. No sympathy for a group of people who cut a deal with the devil in order to give themselves new spaces in a yuppie ghetto complex.

If they wanted out, they should have just gotten the fuck out and enabled others to take their places in these city-owned buildings.

Where do they get off enabling a notorious developer to acquire these two buildings in order to DESTROY their low-income housing and create more than FIFTY market rate apts on those sites????

Mark my words: Capoccia WILL double-cross them and they will be shit out of luck!!

  4. It's Justin Bond (who lives in that building) after being turned into a nun guarding the gates of Hell ala "The Sentinel."

  5. I studied martial arts with Frank the Snake at the Wu Tang Physical Culture Association, 71/2 2nd Ave.
That is the space that had the Ying Yang symbol below the "Man" in the window.
He still survives and thrives in the LES, The mannequin belonged to him.
