Spotted on Seventh Street near Second Avenue late yesterday afternoon. Thanks to EV Grieve reader David M. for the photo.

  1. Perhaps it was a light lunch for our TSP hawk...

  2. As a child, I rescued a baby squirrel orphaned by a hurricane. I lined an empty birdcage with a towel and formed a nest with the towel in an abalone shell. Fed the baby milk with an eyedropper. It died. I still feel sad when I remember. Baby squirrels can win your heart. I hope this one lives.

  3. I had one once. It ate what gerbils eat and was very sweet and affectionate. However, nocturnal! I was up all night while it would climb up my feet up to my hair.

  4. Man, now I want a baby squirrel too! If this one is found and will agree to wear a tiny Big Gay Ice Cream shirt while frolicking, I'll buy it a bag of whatever junk it likes to nibble sweetly upon.
