    Well, thanks to this, I've really been enjoying The Bean in their new 2nd Ave location. The store looks great and is better than before. I'll be spending more time and $$ there...

    The section to the North of the space - the 10 feet or so of brick and a grey door is truly hideous.

    Saw this happening this morning. I'm really not looking forward to passing this daily on my way to the subway... That whole block between 3rd-4th on 1st Ave is pretty original save for the King Gyro stand - that, and this Starbucks, just look out of place.

    I can't wait to shoot up and choke on my vomit in their bathroom. Hope they have wifi so I can check in on Foursquare. And chemical-free, non-allergenic toilet paper. And an organically washed floor. All those things.

    Very sterile, especially compared to the charm of The Bean then and now. I'm going to crop dust each time I walk by, and shoot birds to any patrons inside.

    but the coffee, the coffee is... really... not so good. but it is better than the bean. oh and if you like the bean so much than go there, can't you walk a block, it's actually a much better location.

    I love the idea of an empty Starbucks! Let's do it! Let's not wait in line to use their bathroom, or sit at their tables.

    What a statement we'll make! Ideally scare other corporate food franchises / chains from entering our neighborhood. Power to the mom & pop's and ourselves.

    You'll find me at drinking coffee that I made at home or I might spurge on a 9th st expresso coffee in a community garden! Come join me.

    I really wish this would be the first Starbucks to open and never sell anything and then close shortly thereafter......but with all the brainless morons living around there these days I am sure it'll be packed 24/7.

    I love the Bean, and have been going there regularly since they opened. But frankly, they are going to have to step up to the plate with their food items. Old stale croissants, mediocre cold sandwiches, dry brownies, and overpriced bland apple cakes will not do when the munchies strike, particularly in the mornings, when a hot breakfast sandwich will hit the spot. Whenr a nice leisurely coffee in a wonderful atmosphere is what I crave, I will continue to visit the Bean. but when I am hungry, and want something quick, I will visit Starbucks. BTW I have been in this neighborhood for decades, and despise what it has become as much as anyone...
