  1. I walked by Veselka Bowery a few weeks ago during prime Brunch hours and it looked about 15% full. They may have overestimated the desire of locals to eat at a new suburban looking location.

  2. Veselka Bowery wasn't created for "locals" it was created for rich transnationalists who spend a few months here and a few months there in their glimmering glass shithaus boutique hotels - the prices at that new veselka are way overboard, there are hardly any locals in that area and those that are certainly aren't paying $20 for brunch!

  3. Wow. Do they think that people won't walk the 10 or so blocks from one location to the other? Better to have a rickshaw to transport the imperial masters from place to place.

  4. I ate dinner at the 1st Street location. While pricy, I enjoyed my meal and would return. But, as Spike suggested, the place has a cold, strip-mall feel. Locals have better meal choices than this (Peels, the Wren, Gemma); tourists will want the authentic Veselka.

They don't have a demographic, it would appear.

  5. do they get to see the menu/prices for the new place before they get in the cab? if they just ride over they, they're gonna be surprised when they see how much more expensive it is. the new place sux. too bad, I was really hoping for a eating place for locals, but this new place is not it. it can go down the tubes with Bowery Diner. they both suck.

  6. I don't understand the attraction of Veselka. Never been a fan. Wish Bendix had survived the commercial DarwInism instead. They sort of have that "Shake Shack" teacher's pet thing going on, which I find a little grating.

  7. Also, pedicabs are not allowed in bike lanes, like the one right in front of Veselka. So, stay out of the bike lane!
