Street fair! Street fair! Street fair!

Today, the festival is on Third Avenue, from 14th Street to St. Mark's Place...

There is nothing else left to say.

  3. These have been "boring ass" since I moved here in the '80s (yes, I am new blood).

The damn fees for space can pretty much shut out anybody who is not selling inexpensive, mass-produced cheap shit. Both Clearview and Mardi Gras productions require an annual fee, iirc, plus a fee per event which can range from $55-$650 for non-food vendors per event, according to one source.

I can't imagine $55 rental space even exists -- for what? A stool and a card table?

I'd set up my work at one of these events but not for $650.

    Meh.

Bonzai trees, I like the bonzai trees yeah, and the cheap sheets. Which fall apart after a couple of washes.

    Meh again.

  4. VH McK. -- Thanks for the tip about the sheets. I have been tempted.

  5. @VHM - agreed. I'd love to have a table at one of these fairs, but the price is ridiculous. Imagine how interesting and diverse street fairs could be if they were open to local independent artists and craftspeople. Maybe we could get something started...
