A summer scene

Somewhere along Avenue B

  1. During a torrential downpour last week, trying to be impartially helpful, I rescued the lost flip-flop of a stroller-wielding yuppie as it sailed down the street very fast, under a number of parked cars. No thanks at all, just a sour grunt!

  3. Sexy...haha
Better than 6 inch heels I see around.

Every time I see someone walking in 6 inch heels in the city my first thought isn't 'sexy' (which is prob what they are going for) its 'Wow this person prob watched too many Sex in the City episodes and thinks thats what New York is like. That looks uncomfortable.'

  7. Its "victimwear" - no one is running or defending themselves in fucking flippy floppies. Actually reminds me of the Chinese peasants you see in scenes from the Culture war.

  8. I don't quite understand the hatred for flip flops. They seem pretty innocuous to me.

  9. Females may wear all sorts of crazy things on their feet and make other serious sacrifices just for their looks. But I agree with NYGrump, flip-flops are a bad idea for men living in the inner city. As you may have noticed, the sidewalks and streets are covered with all manner of poo, vomit, broken glass, metal shards, etc. -- as well as for the primary self-defense reason NYGrump mentioned.

(Check the police blotter for Aug 30 at thevillager.com, if you want to see the degree of cluelessness of SOME of our newer residents. Wow.)
