ReplyDeleteIt's dutch elm disease for the most part. The trees in T-Square date back as much as a hundred years, so they're getting on in their years. Most of our native northeastern hardwoods are dying from something. Either the Asian Longhorn Beetle, the Japanese Beetle, or Dutch Elm Disease (a fungus that weakens the tree's wood, leading to cracked branches like this), what your seeing is the "benefit" of international trade.
