Updated: Ah! In the comments, Pinhead says there's one tomorrow too on Broadway between Waverly and 14th...
Excellent coverage! Sad to think this is the last street fair until, um, tomorrow.

Street fair is supposed to be a fun treat. Fried food on a stick is supposed to be a fun treat. These dime a dozen fairs are not fun, they are so goddang soulless and perfunctory. What's the point of putting on a street fair without the fun and whimsy? We suck, all there is to it.

1) In case you didn't know, these lame fairs are a remnant of the 1970s (Ford to NYC Drop Dead) and are an attempt at "stimulating the economy". Bad idea then, bad idea now.
ReplyDelete2) This weekend there is one of those art fair booth things going on on University Ave from Wash. Square Park heading north.
BT - That's the Washington Square Art show on University Place, and it has been around for several decades. A lot of it may not be, ah, museum-quality, but there's not a mozzarepa in sight.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 7:58pm: Yes they can. And the film/TV parking blackouts have a special NYPD division just to tow parked cars to other, not in the way of the almighty film path, "legal parking spaces". After your car gets towed and you think, gee whiz, I kinda liked that car, wonder what happened to it, there's a special phone number posted (if you can still find a flyer) where based on your description of your car a NYPD towing lackey^H^H^H^H^H^H specialist will tell you where it "probably is". Our taxes at work.
ReplyDeleteI've done the WSP art fair - it's a juried show and is entirely artwork (some jewelry). Getting in is kind of prestigious.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I've missed every street fair this summer - will have to wait an entire year for socks!
