Gem Spa in 2001 and 2012: Your Face on a Sticker vs Zoltar

Via our friends James and Karla Murray...

And sadly, Voltar stopped working some time in the last 24 hours... so fragile! Second time now in the past week ...

  1. Whereas I would go with Zoltar over Your-Face-on-a-Sticker (based on aesthetics only), I definitely think the previous Gem Spa sign is better.

Previous Gem Spa sign, current awning, Zoltar, no ATM sign.

  2. Seven p.m. Sunday, decided to try my luck, get my fortune told. Put in my money – nothing. Went inside, told the man behind the counter. There was wordless acknowledgment of the situation by handing over a ticket with my fortune on one side: “. . . . There is need for good business judgment now. . . . ,” plus lucky numbers. Flip side had a handy guide to astrological dates, with appropriate gemstones and flowers. Guy obviously had a bunch of these tickets. Voltar may be unreliable, folks.
By the by, the counterman didn’t seem as if he would know an egg cream from an eggplant.
