Late-night fireworks

There were all sorts of tweets around midnight of gunshots, maybe, but more likely fireworks ... we haven't been able to pinpoint the exact location... Shawn Chittle took this photo looking southeast toward Tompkins Square Park...

Anyone have a fix on the location?

  1. Just want to say thank for posting this pic- I was pretty sure I heard gunfire and then return gunfire of another caliber last night- reminding me of my time in Iraq which first scared me, but I guess I'm recovering because after a a few moments of heart pounding fear, I rolled over and went back to sleep! Glad it was Fire Works!

  2. I believe it was World Series-related.

  3. It was right after the World Series ended. Almost definitely related.

  4. I think the sounds — which I took to be gunshots as well, having recently been on N 9 St in Williamsburg at night when five shots were fired between dealers I thought they were legit — were about 15-20 mins after the World Series ended actually. I say this because I watched the game and some of the celebration, then took my dog for a walk around the park. We were on E 10th when they went off. Didn't see any fireworks but I'll happily believe that's what they were.

  5. believe it was those same jagoffs over on 11th street. you ran a picture someone sent in a while ago with the address of the offenders along with an exhortation to call the cops. suppose the cops are a bit busy just now but those guys have been setting off very loud fireworks in the middle of the night for months now. depriving sleep deprived people of sleep is despicable and they should die. happy hurricane all. xo

  6. Totally agree with Jose. This is your typical DB, Bro Herd,Frat Boy, out of state, self-absorbed, behavior. If you had asked me 10 years ago that fireworks would be set off in NYC for a SAN FRANCISCO (!) win in the WS, I would have called you out as BS.
