The guy's a piece of shit, anyone who would knock down that building is. But at least it's not glass and steel!
ReplyDeleteFrankly, the building looks quite nice and appropriate for the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteNot as nice or appropriate as the building that had stood there for almost 200 years.
ReplyDeleteAre those actual bricks or an applique? What a cracker box POS.
ReplyDeleteI think that might be a facade of bricks over cinder blocks.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like an apartment building- Does one couple really use or need a 5-6 story building? Reminds me of the Economakis mansion on 3rd street- A 15 unit apartment building is now a one family "house".
ReplyDeleteEV grieve's fixation on this is becoming perverse, and bordering on stalking.... I love you EV Grieve, but give these people a break. They are not the first celebs in the neighborhood, and they are not the first people to to replace something that was there, with something new.. I love the neighborhood blog vibe of EV Grieve, and I get a lot of good info here about our hood, but this strange fixation is bordering on encouraging violence to this particular family... Sorry, I just put myself in their shoes, and if I were them, I would be terrified... I come to this site for local neighborhood info, not for a cheap version of the Enquirer..
ReplyDeleteI think the coverage is not because it is a celebrity moving in, but that the construction on this building has basically terrorized the neighborhood. Sawing bricks and metal for weeks on end on the roof in the back yard starting at 7am? They have no respect for the neighborhood and hundreds of residents who live on the block. If a bar made this noise a single night they would be shut down (and many have been) but this can go on for over a year? The past two days they emptied cement trucks out onto block and without cleaning it up (except in front of their own building).
