Is this the noise that you heard last night?

We heard from several readers last evening around 10-ish... asking what that mysterious buzzing noise was coming from somewhere around First Avenue and East Fourth Street... one reader figured the constant buzzing stopped around 11 p.m. or so.

The noise started up again this morning... and one reader found what he or she thinks is the culprit... leaf blowers coming from Village View...

  2. The worst noise in the world was coming from 6th St & 1st Ave from 8:45pm to 12:30am Sunday night - Verizon & some environmental company either sucking from or blowing into the manhole. They HAD to this at 9pm on Sunday?

  3. You did not hear the workers blowing the leaves. The noise was coming from Verizon. Verizon had a huge truck doing work on 1st Avenue & 6th Street. The smaller truck is still there and has been there since yesterday.

  4. On 10 and C we have been hearing a low frequency buzzing sound off and on since little miss sandy. We don't believe it is coming from ConEd and it is happening at all hours of the day.

  5. An invention nearly as awful as the powered lawn mower. Use a rake and a broom. Doesn't pollute, it's quiet, and you might actually get some exercise.
